Permafrost Thaw, Alaska, Sights and Sound

Please use speakers or wear headphones for the audio.

Permafrost Thaw, Alaska, Sights and Sound is an interdisciplinary piece connecting painting and sound to Lindt’s exploration of thawing permafrost in the Arctic Circle.

For her permafrost series, Lindt regularly works in collaboration with several research teams at the Toolik Field station in Alaska (2018, 2019, 2023), The Abisko Research Station in Arctic Sweden (2022) and in the Northwest Territories of Canada (2023).

A painting based on the rhythms and language of the sounds heard above and underground in the permafrost is coupled with the recording.
